Update: Found my Weight Loss Niche!

So I know I rarely reblog and hardly every post any original content, but I wanted everyone to know I’m still here and I’m doing AWESOME!

Let’s start at the beginning…

Last summer (2012), I began my weight loss journey at 231 lbs. As you can see from the above snapshot (courtesy my LoseIt App), the beginning was a rocky road… I would lose weight, then gain a little, then lose, gain, etc. I was doing a so-so job of going to the gym (2-4 times a week) and I was eating a bit cleaner than I was before I started trying to lose. However, I was still bingeing on occasion and I soon got frustrated that my mediocre efforts were not yielding the results I desired consistently. So I got a bit depressed/discouraged and fell off the horse in October/November at around 214 lbs.

Between November 2012 and March 2013, I was still making very half-hearted attempts to eat well, but I was rarely exercising. By mid-March I had managed to climb back up to 225 lbs—I had a breakdown/”come-to-Jesus” moment about how unhappy I was about my weight, my health, my confidence. I just knew I had to turn everything around.

On March 17, 2013, I started on a new path. I began to eat clean—LOTS of spinach (my new favorite food), a variety of veggies and fruits, some meat (primarily fish and chicken), with a smattering of nuts, oils, yogurt, etc. I rarely eat dairy, grains, or any processed foods (I like to think of it as a very softcore paleo diet). That said, I allow myself to eat Pizza Hut once in a blue moon. A couple times a week I’ll grab fast food—but I buy a side salad (props to Wendy’s for the most excellent side salads) or a kid’s meal with the apple slices. Because no healthy lifestyle should keep you from enjoying the things you love from time to time—even a Nacho Cheese Chalupa from Taco Bell. It honestly hasn’t taken that much self-control (and trust me, I have very little); just knowing that there will always be a next time.

As for working out: daily, I legitimately only do 15-20 minutes of YouTube yoga a day and some strength training (squats, dead lifts, lunges—things to make my booty big haha). I try to ride my bike or go for a walk every other day but I usually only end up with 2-3 cardio workouts a week. I need to step that up a bit!

So far, since re-vamping my fitness plan in March with some simple and enjoyable changes, I have lost 21 lbs. I couldn’t be happier! Before and after pictures to come later!

Start weight: 231.4 lbs

Current weight: 204.4 lbs

Initial goal weight: 175.0 lbs

How I know I don't want kids yet

Me: Got my period
Me: High five bitches

Falling off the Proverbial Horse

So, I sort of fucked it all up. I stopped working out as diligently, then I more or less quit altogether. My eating habits are in shambles and I walk around every day with the heavy weight of guilt (and the pounds I re-gained) and it’s all gotten quite sad.

But strangely, I never really gave up on the idea that I would succeed eventually… given my actions, this was a tad delusional. I think I just needed to hit rock-bottom (i.e., realize how far I’ve strayed from a healthy lifestyle and have a major cry-fest about it) to buck the fuck up and GET BACK ON THE HORSE.
